When asked why the Jets aren't benching Zach Wilson, head coach Chris Saleh unexpectedly chose to "plead the fifth" during an interview on The Michael Kay Show.
During his weekly ESPN New York radio show, Saleh was frequently questioned by Kay regarding the team's choice to start veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian at quarterback.
"I'm not sure... I got you. Saleh declared, "I'm going to plead the fifth on this one." He appeared tense as he explained his logic.
Saleh went on, "Those are good questions... I have to consider everything from a global perspective,
assess the situation as it stands, take the best look at All-22, and come to the best conclusion I can.
Wilson has started for the Jets and has an 11–18 record. He has completed just 56.6% of his throws for 5,622 yards,
20 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions in 30 career games.
In Week 10, Wilson and the Jets look to rebound from a poor Monday night game against the Chargers.
They take on the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on November 12.
