You can temporarily disable your Facebook account without deleting it by deactivating it. When your account is deactivated,
Other users will not be able to see your profile, pictures, or videos. Your account information will however continue to be kept on Facebook's servers.
Follow these instructions to delete your Facebook account.
Log into your Facebook account by visiting the website.
Choose "Settings & Privacy" by clicking on the downward-pointing arrow in the top right corner of the screen.
Click "Personal Information" in the left column.
Click "Account Ownership and Control" at the bottom of the page once you have scrolled down.
Then select "Deactivate Account."
Once you've entered your password, select "Continue to Account Deactivation."
Select a justification for account deactivation, then click "Next."
After thinking it over, select "Deactivate Account."
