Unexpected Departure: Seahawks Captain Forced to Leave Team Ahead of Monday Night Football

On Monday Night Football, the Seahawks will be without a player when they play the Giants.

Prior to Monday Night Football, special teams captain Nick Bellore was removed for a valid reason.

The 34-year-old will miss tonight's game, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, in order to travel back to Seattle for the birth of his child.

Along with him, the team also promoted cornerback Lance Boykin and wide receiver Cody Thompson off the practice squad.

After falling to the Los Angeles Rams on opening day,

the 2-1 Seahawks have won two straight games and are still in the running for the NFC West crown.

The NFL Comeback Player of the Year from a year ago, Geno Smith, is still on the field today.

He entered with seven victories.
