The Formula 1 2020 : British GP started with a shocking news. On Thursday Sergio Perez of Racing Point was tested positive for coronavirus. Later, Nico Hulkenberg replaced him ahead of their reserve drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Esteban Gutierrez. He had a very decent Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2, finishing ninth and seventh fastest respectively. Everyone were rooting for Nico Hulkenberg to perform well in the improved Racing Point. But his performance in the Formula 1 2020 : British GP Qualifying did not live up to the expectation. He was out in Q2 and will start at 13th position in the grid on Sunday for the race.
British GP Qualifying : Q1
Bottas set the fastest lap in Q1. Behind him was his teammate Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in third position. Both Hass and Alfa Romeo drivers failed to make it through to Q2 as they were eliminated Q1.
George Russell had another great Qualifying as he made it into Q2 for third consecutive time in this season. On the other hand, his teammate Nicholas Latifi spun and ended up being slowest and will start the race at the back.
British GP Qualifying : Q2
It was a very entertaining Q2 to start off. Hamilton made a mistake and ended up spinning and dragging gravel on the track, which caused red flagging of the session to clear out the gravel from the track. He recovered well as he comfortably finished second fastest behind his teammate.
Lance Stroll and Pierre Gasly set exact same time. Very unfortunate for Gasly as he ended up 11th and Stroll went through Q3, just because he completed the lap before Gasly. Alex Albon didn’t make it through top 10 as he was fourth tenths of seconds behind his teammate.
Nico Hulkenberg failed to make it through top 10 along with Dani Kvyat who also has a five place grip penalty for a gearbox change. He will start 19th in the grid.
British GP Qualifying : Q3
Lewis Hamilton secures his seventh British GP pole position. He also takes his third successive pole position in this season. Valtteri Bottas set the new track record earlier in Q2. But Lewis Hamilton, in Q3 broke that record and set his own track record. It is again a Mercedes front row for the race on Sunday. Max Verstappen managed to secure third position behind the Silver Arrows. But he was a massive 0.9s behind the two Mercedes
.

Charles Leclerc secured fourth position six ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel, as it was another disappointing performance from him. Lando Norris takes position ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz. Lance Stroll will start at sixth position between the two McLarens. Daniel Ricciardo and his teammate Esteban Ocon secured eighth and ninth repectively.
It is expected to be a dry race on Sunday. Lewis Hamilton has won six times at British GP. Will he make it seven times on Sunday? Or will Bottas comeback from behind to win the race? Or will their be any other winner?
